Your academic is assigned by program. This information is listed in your acceptance letter through the admitted student portal. It is also listed in Prowl and Degree Works.
How do I find my LMU email address?

Where can I find information on scholarships?
There is information about scholarships is in the admitted student portal. The SOE has a scholarship website. LMU Financial Aid is also a resource.
Registration:
When can I register?
While the university lists registration dates, please check in with your advisor. Some programs register at designated times outside of the traditional registration period.
How do I register?
There are instructions in the admitted student portal. You register in the registration portal in Prowl. If you have issues, please contact your academic advisor. There can be additional instructions provided if necessary.
Academic Planning:
What courses should I take?
Please discuss your course schedule and program sequence with your academic advisor.
How long is my program?
Every program has a different length of time. If you are unclear about timeline, then discuss with your academic advisor.
Can I study abroad?
Study Abroad is mostly an undergraduate opportunity. If you plan to study abroad, then you should discuss with your academic advisor as soon as possible. Undergraduate students can study abroad in the fall, spring, and summer.
The SOE does offer a graduate Study Abroad opportunity in the summer for the Counseling program only. This should also be discussed with the academic advisor.
What GPA must I maintain to remain in good academic standing?
To maintain good standing graduate students must earn at least a 3.0 GPA. Undergraduate students musth earn at least a 2.0 GPA.
How do I drop a course?
You should discuss dropping a course with their academic advisor. If you still plan to drop, then you need to do this through the registration portal in Prowl.
How do I appeal a grade?
The grade appeal policy is listed in the University Bulletin (https://bulletin.lmu.edu/academic-degree-requirements-policies/).
How long do I have to clear an incomplete grade?
This decision is between you and the professor. This is agreed upon in the incomplete contract.
How does a leave of absence work?
You can take a leave of absence for 2 years. When you return you need to complete a return from leave of absence (Include Link). Please work with your academic advisor through this process.
How can I withdraw from LMU?
You should discuss withdrawing with your academic advisor and academic program director. If you wish to proceed, then you need to complete a withdrawal form (https://registrar.lmu.edu/forms/)
Where can I find graduation information?
You should visit the commencement website, which lists all the information on commencement (https://www.lmu.edu/commencement/)
Can I still participate in commencement if I am not finished with my program?
Yes, you can still participate. A graduate student must have 6 or less semester units to complete. An undergraduate must have 30 or less semester units to complete in order to participate.
CREDENTIALING:
When can I apply for my credential?
You can apply for your credential at the end of your last semester of your program. Please check with your advisor for further instructions.
How long does it take to be recommended?
Once the credential analyst submits your recommendation to CTC and you complete your online payment, it takes 4-7 business days.
What is the process to obtaining my credential with the SOE Credential Office?
You will need to submit an online Credential Request Form to the SOE Credential Office.
How long is the timeline for receiving my credential with CTC?
You should receive your credential in 2 to 4 weeks.
How much is the credential?
The current cost as of August 2026 is $102.65.
I am planning to work in another state, who can I contact in SOE to complete and sign a Verification of Program Completion Form?
