Fr. Robert T. Walsh, S.J., former Executive Director of the Center for Catholic Education, appointed Chancellor of Loyola Marymount Univeristy
After five years serving as the Executive Director of the Center for Catholic Education, Fr. Robert T. Walsh, S.J., begins his service as Chancellor of Loyola Marymount University. LMU President, Timothy Law Snyder, Ph. D., made the appointment. Fr. Walsh brings decades of experience in Catholic school leadership with him. Succeeding Fr. Walsh in the center is Sister Rosemarie Nassif, SSND. In summer 2018, the LMU and SOE community welcomed Sr. Rosemarie as the Executive Director of the CCE.
Sr. Mary Angela Shaughnessy, SCN, presented with the National Catholic Education Association 2017 Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton President's Award
In October 2017, the National Catholic Education Association bestowed its highest award in Catholic education to Sr. Mary Angela Shaughnessy, SCN, J.D., Ph.D. Sr. Angie is the Senior Distinguished Fellow in the Center for Catholic Education and teaches candidates in the School of Education's Catholic School Leadership Academy. The Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton President's Award was presented to Sr. Angie for her life's contribution to Catholic education including her work in education law as it impacts Catholic schools. The National Catholic Educational Association awarded The Center for Catholic Education with the 2016 Dr. Karen M. Ristau Innovation Award
Loyola Marymount University's Center for Catholic Education has won the Dr. Karen M. Ristau Innovation Award for its comprehensive approach to furthering the mission of Catholic education.
The award, given by the National Catholic Educational Association, recognized LMU's Center for Catholic Education for its innovation in providing instruction, leadership and support for Catholic education, particularly through programs including PLACE (Partners in Los Angeles Catholic Education) Corps, CAST (Catholic Archdiocesan School Teachers) and the Catholic School Leadership Academy.
