Child Welfare & Attendance Added Authorization to the PPS Credential
The Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) Added Authorization authorizes California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential holders to work directly with pupils to improve Average Daily Attendance (ADA). These professionals focus specifically on truancy remediation and prevention in order to improve attendance culture and increase attendance and well-being for at-risk pupils. Child welfare and attendance combines the knowledge and skill of counseling with knowledge of education and the law to resolve complicated situations involving school choice, student discipline, campus safety, and programs for high-risk youth.
LMU is now offering the 'stand-alone' CWA Authorization program!
Eligible candidates already hold a California CTC Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Counseling, School Psychology, or Social Work, having completed their academic coursework from any California college or university approved to offer a PPS program(s).
The LMU CWA Program is approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), and is a 3-course, 9-semester unit program that may be completed in one academic semester or over the course of two consecutive academic semesters.
Candidates do enroll in their fieldwork placement concurrently while completing the CWA coursework. Classes will be held on Saturdays (9-12 and 1-4 pm) in a hybrid modality (partial in-person and partial online). The LMU campus is conveniently located in Westchester near the LAX airport.
