Lisa Yoon

Lisa Yoon is a special education teacher at Carmenita Middle School, where she strives to narrow the achievement gap for students by focusing on education equity and access. Lisa joined Teach for America in 2016 and taught in West Philadelphia and at a public inner-city high school in Providence, Rhode Island. For the past two years, she has taught English Language Development courses for language learners. Lisa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Intercultural Communication from Pepperdine University, where she studied the complexities of effectively engaging with people from all backgrounds; a Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Rhode Island College, and a Certificate in Conflict Management from Pepperdine University School of Law – Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. Her main research interest focuses on the underrepresentation of Asian Americans in roles of leadership in Education.
