In addition to traditional financial aid awards, students majoring in Education and Learning Sciences at SOE are eligible to apply for additional awards by virtue of their career path and program choice. Visit LMU's Financial Aid Office for more information on all of these opportunities.

Golden State Teacher Grants

This state-funded program offers a one-time award of up to $10, 000 per student. Qualifying students must be enrolled in a teacher preparation program and must commit to teaching in a high-need field upon earning their credential. This award is not included within the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application, thus you must apply separately for this grant through the California Student Aid Commission.

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant

This federal program offers up to $4, 000 per year to students who are completing or plan to complete coursework needed for a career in teaching. You must submit the FAFSA to be considered for this grant program and must also agree to complete a teaching service obligation following the completion of your degree and credential. If you do not fulfill this obligation, the TEACH Grant will be converted to an interest-bearing loan that you must repay.

Loan Forgiveness Programs

Teacher Loan Forgiveness and Public Service Loan Forgiveness are two of several loan forgiveness programs are also available to teachers. These programs eliminate loan debt based on years of service as well as years in repayment.
