Julie Kane is the Director of Special Projects at the Lawndale Elementary School District. She has spent the last 29 years as a bilingual teacher, Principal, and district administrator overseeing programs for English Learners. She is a tireless advocate for underserved students, working to ensure that teachers and school leaders have the resources, knowledge, skills, and support to provide the high-quality education students deserve. Her research interests include developing professional learning systems that engage teachers in developing culturally and linguistically responsive instructional practices in order to remove barriers and create opportunities for English Learners, which inspired her dissertation, “Engaging Secondary Math Teachers in Breaking Down Barriers for English Learners.”
