Julia Straszewski is the Assistant Principal of Interventions and Operations at El Segundo High School.
Julia enrolled in the Ed.D. Program at LMU because she was looking to be part of the positive change in the educational facet of society through cultural responsiveness.
Julia’s dissertation, “When School Was Not Designed for Your Family: A Culturally Responsive High School Parent Engagement Guide,” chaired by Manuel Ponce, Ed.D., aimed to address the social justice issue of culturally responsive parent engagement in the education system.
Participating in the Ed.D. Program at LMU has given Julia the opportunity to dive deeper, knowing who she is as a leader and why. The Ed.D. Program challenged her to audit every component of the educational system, then analyze and improve it in a way that’s equitable and reasonable, always grounded in the literature with a practitioner lens. She loved every moment of being a Lion, and will forever carry that spirit in her heart.
