Which one is right for me?
The LMU School Psychology Program is offered in both a traditional, on-campus format or a fully online format. In both cases, you must live in California for the duration of the program in adherence with California credentialing requirements.
Both programs share the same admission requirements, structure, course sequences, benchmarks, and requirements for graduation:
- Approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
- Three years to complete with 63 course units and 1,700 hours of fieldwork required. All fieldwork placements are in-person placements at schools or school districts.
- Hands-on, personalized learning experiences with our faculty and your fellow cohort members
The on-campus program (sample schedule here) may be right for you if:
- You live within driving distance to LMU’s Westchester campus
- You learn more effectively through face-to-face interactions with your classmates and professors
- You want to take advantage of campus resources such as the Burns Recreation Center or study rooms at the William H. Hannon Library
The online program (sample schedule here) may be right for you if:
- You outside of the Los Angeles area or cannot easily commute to campus
- You can learn effectively via Zoom or similar platforms; at least 50 percent of each course is taught synchronously
- You’re comfortable building relationships with faculty and classmates using Zoom, Teams messages, phone calls, and other means of communication
Once enrolled in the school psychology program, can I change modality from on-campus to online, or vice versa?
You may request a transfer from one program modality to the other by completing the Program Petition Form provided to accepted candidates. Transfers are offered based on available space and rationale for the request to change modality.
