Jamal Adams'13 Catholic Archdiocesan School Teachers (CAST)

"I chose the LMU CAST Program for grad school because it offers a unique opportunity to improve my understanding of Jesuit education, integrate Ignatian spirituality into my teaching practice, and connect with other Ignatian educators to build a strong network and valuable connections. Furthermore, the opportunity to learn from experienced Catholic school leaders, informed by Ignatian spirituality, significantly influenced my decision to enroll in the LMU CAST program. The program's faculty members are respected leaders in the field, and their expertise and guidance were invaluable in my development as a leader. Immersing in the environment within the program helps me concisely articulate the goal of forming the whole person and developing critical thinking, discernment, and a commitment to social justice. In the program, we embraced the life-giving forces of networking to find fulfillment, problem-solve and share best practices.

Additionally, the program gave me a comprehensive understanding of educational leadership, including the latest research, best practices, and ethical considerations. We were exposed to essential skills of strategic planning, administration of personnel, and critical insights on managing academic, co-curricular, and spiritual programs that are student-centered. These skills have been invaluable in my current role as a Principal, where I must make decisions that impact the school's long-term success. The LMU CAST program also allowed me to engage with other Catholic school leaders in the classroom and through networking events. These connections have benefited my career, as I have learned from and collaborated with other experienced Catholic school leaders.

I look forward to building strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents, fostering a sense of community and collaboration within the school. I hope to be a spark of inspiration, hold the Loyola mission very close to my heart, and exude it in words and actions."
