Counseling Programs

Helping Others, Changing Lives

"Helping Others, Changing Lives" is the signature of our program and is undergirded by our commitment to multicultural affirmation, social justice, and cura personalis (care for the whole person). The signature corresponds to what we believe are the most important characteristics of those who aspire to be professional counselors.

Hybrid Degree and Credential Certification Program Offerings

  • The M.A. in Counseling (60 units) with Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Eligibility is designed to prepare aspiring counselors in clinical mental health settings and/or K-12 school or college and university settings. Candidates select from two specialization options: Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization w/LPCC eligibility, or School Counseling specialization which offers the California PPS Credential alongside LPCC eligibility.
  • The M.A. in School Counseling with California PPS Credential in School Counseling (48 units) is designed to prepare aspiring school counselors to maximize their professional mobility in K-12 public, private, and parochial schools.
  • The M.A. in Guidance and Counseling (41 units) prepares candidates to work in higher education and/or non-profit settings (e.g., university academic advisor, career counselor, etc.). Candidates in this program often see their primary professional role as one that involves counseling young adults as they navigate their way through the college experience.
  • The Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) Add-On Authorization authorizes California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential holders to work directly with pupils to improve Average Daily Attendance (ADA).

Many of our required courses are designed to be offered in a hybrid format which combines both online synchronous, online asynchronous and in-person components.
