LMU's Elementary Education Credential Program prepares you to serve as a teacher in a California K-5 public school classroom. Our curriculum leads to a combined California SB2042 Multiple Subjects Preliminary Teaching Credential and an MA degree. LMU allows you to add an MA to your Credential by simply adding 1 to 3 additional classes to your existing Credential curriculum. You can specialize in one of three MA concentrations: Elementary Education, Literacy and Language Arts, or Bilingual Elementary Education, depending on your professional goals. If you are interested in teaching Middle of High School, please view the Secondary Education Program.
This program follows the "traditional" track. Upon successful completion of coursework, CTC requirements, including student teaching in a public school, you will be eligible for a Preliminary Teaching Credential. If you are currently employed as a full-time teacher you should review the program requirements for the Intern/Practitioner track.
