"Let us do what is best for students..."
This is the view that guides the work of Dr. Manny A. Aceves. As Associate Dean for Strategic Partnerships and Educational Effectiveness in the School of Education (SOE) at Loyola Marymount University, Dr. Aceves oversees the areas of continuous improvement, accountability, accreditation, and clinical fieldwork in addition to leading strategic partnerships and policy relations for the SOE. This responsibility also includes supervising the LMU Family of Schools team.
Dr. Aceves is a triple alumnus of LMU, receiving his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership for Social Justice, Master of Arts in School Administration, and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He also holds California credentials in both teaching and administration. Before joining LMU, Dr. Aceves was a classroom teacher at New West Charter Middle School in Los Angeles. This valuable experience influences and informs his work, as he supports implementation of the LMU Family of Schools mission and vision. Dr. Aceves is highly visible in the education community and under his leadership, the LMU School of Education has significantly developed and grown partnerships with the external educational community. He has served as the lead LMU representative in creating the University's first teaching demonstration school partnerships at Playa Vista Elementary School and Westside Innovative School House (WISH) Charter, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for WISH Charter and the Playa Vista Elementary School Advisory Board.
Dr. Aceves describes his work on behalf of the LMU Family of Schools as challenging but also exciting and rewarding. "Along with the tremendous opportunity to develop innovative partnerships and support schools capable of changing the landscape of public education, there also exist the responsibility to respectfully engage all stakeholders, in order to ensure that school environments are nurturing and supportive of the students we serve." Dr. Aceves believes that the work of the LMU Family of Schools and the strong partnerships that have been developed with the schools in the Westchester, Playa Del Rey and Playa Vista communities, are critical factors in the LMU School of Education fulfilling its mission of preparing impactful 21st century educators and leaders in the field of education.
