Candidates who currently hold a valid California teaching credential are eligible to add a Reading & Literacy Specialist Added Authorization program (formerly the Reading Certificate). The Reading & Literacy Added Authorization is a state certification which authorizes the holder to assess student reading and provide literacy instruction in response to those assessments. Reading & Literacy Added Authorization holders are also authorized to develop, implement, and adapt the reading content curriculum and assist classroom teachers in these areas.
