What have you done that you are proud of?

Over the 11 years that I have worked in education, I have served as a special education teacher, a program coordinator, a school psychologist, and a special education administrator.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates this impact?

In my current role as Senior Director of Integrated Special Education with Rocketship Education (a network of public charter elementary schools), I am responsible for overseeing our programs for students with disabilities across 11 schools in three states. In this capacity, I have supported Rocketship in the development of a number of innovative programs that support the academic and social-emotional success of our students. This has included the implementation of our Specialized Inclusion Program (SIP) for students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities, a program which focuses both on specialized programming and meaningful access to experiences in the general education setting for this population.

How has your work made an impact on your community, school, agency, classroom, clients or students?

The Specialize Inclusion Program currently supports 14 students at two sites, and next year the program will be doubling in size. I have also overseen the implementation of a Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports framework in all Rocketship schools. As a result of this initiative, all Rocketship students have access to Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curricula on a regular basis, as well as a three-tier system for social-emotional and behavioral intervention and support.
