Post Admission Requirements

Below are LMU's current post-admission requirements for the School Psychology Program, which ensure compliance with state and local regulations, as well as with our PK-12 school partners and our professional accrediting bodies: the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). It is in your best interest to complete these requirements as soon as possible.

Submit Fingerprint Clearance Documentation

Timing: No later than the last day of the first term enrolled, Summer Session II (Year 1).

Details: Follow procedures at CTC Certificate of Clearance (COC) Directions for directions on fingerprinting using the LiveScan 41-LSForm. It takes two to four weeks to receive results in California; out-of-state clearances can take three to four months so we suggest you wait until arrival in California. We strongly suggest that you submit your COC with your application to LMU.

Complete California Basic Skills Requirements

Timing: No later than the last day of the Spring Semester (Year 1).

Details: There are several ways in which to meet the California Basic Skills Requirement. Most candidates complete these three requirement areas (Reading, Writing, and Math) through courses they completed as an undergraduate with a grade of B- or better.  Included in the application is a self-assessment of coursework you've completed to meet Basic Skills that we encourage you to use.  Occasionally a candidate may need to take some of the three requirement areas (English, Writing, or Math) of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) instead. Further details on California's requirement are included on the Basic Skills section of their website.
