Post Admission Requirements
Alongside the program coursework and field experiences, there are a few more items to tackle. While you can wait until after admission, it is always in your best interest to complete these requirements sooner rather than later. These ensure compliance with our PK-12 school partners and our professional accrediting bodies: the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the National Assocation of School Psychologists.
No later than the June, in the first summer of enrollment, submit your completed CTC Certificate of Clearance. To obtain a CTC Certificate of Clearance, follow procedures at CTC Certificate of Clearance Directions for directions on fingerprinting using the LiveScan 41-LSForm. This process is much easier to complete if you are physically in California, which is why we understand that out of state applicants may wish to wait until they are here. In California it takes 2-4 weeks to receive results. Out of state clearances can take 3-4 months. If you can submit your COC with your application, you've got a head start.
California Basic Skills Requirement
There are several ways in which to meet the California Basic Skills Requirement, although a large number of candidates do complete the California Basic Educaitonal Skills Test (CBEST). Testing options, passing scores, and registration is found at ctcexams.nesinc.com. If you can submit this verification with your application, you've got a head start.
Tuberculosis (TB) skin test results
Negative TB skin test results need to be dated within the past 12 months. Currently enrolled LMU students are eligible to take the TB skin test at the Student Health Center on campus and there is a easy process once enrolled. This requirement needs to be completed no later than September in the first year of enrollment.
