A Message from the Director
Walking across the Loyola Marymount University campus with a group of Westchester High School students, one young woman took out her cell phone to make a call to her mother. "Mom, this campus is beautiful, I want to go here!" This moment brought home the positive impacts that result from the LMU Family of Schools' commitment to our community.
As a partner with the Westchester community in education, it is important that all of us inspire and encourage K-12 students to view a college education as valuable and attainable. As part of FOS's goal to foster a college-going culture, we have opened the LMU campus to students and school stakeholders within our community.
This academic year, we are increasing our work with LMU's Ethnic and Intercultural Services, Greek Life, Athletics Department, Public Safety, William H. Hannon Library and other university groups to give our FOS students a closer look at college life.
In addition, LMU students continue to make an impact in our schools, as they sponsor beautification projects, after-school tutorials, mentoring programs, and family science nights.
The LMU Family of Schools is committed to developing strong family ties between the university, our schools and the community. In doing so, we provide opportunities for more students to have experiences like the young woman who called her mother, students who want to attend and succeed in college.
