Maggie Bove-LaMonica - Program Associate, Policy and Programs, Family of Schools

Since the spring of 2009, Maggie has been responsible for researching and implementing policies that support the Family of Schools and iDesign's mission for autonomy and transparency. Maggie is currently working on projects that identify the root causes and policies that potentially prevent stakeholders from implementing reform. Some of this research, strategy and implementation surrounds a new budgeting model for public schools, and creating an intentional framework and process for effective functions of new governance councils at the FOS partner schools.

A recent graduate of the Master of Public Policy Program at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, Maggie's professional career has always been involved in the field of education.  While an undergraduate at Loyola University of New Orleans, Maggie worked with middle and elementary school students in sports and after-school recreation.  She began her career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco.  Focusing on youth development and teaching English, the program was suspended with the U.S. invasion of Iraq.  Following Peace Corps, Maggie taught in South Central Los Angeles for three years at Verbum Dei High School.  During her tenure at Verbum Dei, she received her Master's in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount University's School of Education. When not engaged in her work with education, Maggie enjoys being outside.  When not individually training for triathlons or surfing, she works with kids sports programs.  She has been head coach for four different soccer programs, as well as head coach for Verbum Dei's cross-country program.
