REAL Transformation
How Transformational Leaders Implement Change:
Institutionalizing a Culture of Accountability and Success
The focus of the CMAST TL program is to institutionalize a culture of active teacher leadership within a school, organization, and community by using data analysis, reflection, problem solving, collaboration, and having the conviction that increasing student engagement and achievement in mathematics throughout an educational community is an attainable goal.
Participants learn how to teach MAST Modules 1-4, how to measure their effectiveness as demonstration teachers and teacher leaders, how to embrace rapid change and constant learning, and how to build a sense of community in an organization so that meaningful change can occur. Teachers learn how to lead by example, by data-informed decision making, with expertise in both theory and practice, and through collaboration. Teachers emerge in shared leadership roles within the school, organization, and community. MAST TLs collaborate with researchers, administrators, and students, to find and implement solutions that will increase student engagement in and achievement of mathematics and science. TLs institutionalize and expand MAST within their sites, organizations, and community as well as take active roles in the CMAST PLC.
