REAL Leadership
How Teachers and Students Become Leaders:
Building a Culture of Transformation
The focus of MAST Module 4 is to build a culture of transformation by embedding professional learning into teaching practice through a modified Japanese lesson study and action research.
A modified lesson study allows teachers to plan and reflect on lessons with their colleagues. Lessons created, taught, and analyzed are structured around the key elements from MAST Modules 1, 2, & 3 and support the cultural expected outcomes of these modules in the classroom; thereby transforming teaching and learning. Strategies from MAST Modules 1, 2, & 3 are analyzed and adapted while new strategies are designed in order to create effective lessons that improve student and teacher engagement and achievement. Collaboration occurs throughout the construction and deconstruction of the lessons and results in life-long educators who engage and prepare their students to become successful life-long learners.
