Striving for Discipline:
Building a Culture of Collaboration

The focus of MAST Module 3 is to strive for discipline by building a culture of collaboration, critical thinking, and connections within the classroom. 

Teachers, students, and parents learn to collaboratively analyze student evidence to strengthen and deepen comprehension of curriculum and teaching practices through connections and justifications. Teachers continue to engage students in the MAST-sequenced lesson around essential standards and focus on making connections between and throughout concepts. Students are comfortable with risk-taking during practice and communicate about both mathematical skills and concepts with each other and the teacher. Teachers and students collaborate to identify next steps to move individual learning forward. Students become advocates for their own learning.
