Michael Castiglione, CMAST Full-Time Clinical Faculty
Michael Castiglione graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia, with a Mathematics degree and a Middle Childhood Education concentration. He continued in school to earn his masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and received an Administrative credential here in California. Michael moved out to Los Angeles in 2006 to take a full time teaching position in Algebra and Geometry at Richard Merkin Middle School, a member of the Alliance College Ready community of schools. He worked as a TL (transformational leader) with the Alliance for College Ready School for 2 years. As a TL Michael held many responsibilities: Served as an expert practitioner for teachers to observe MAST in action, implemented MAST throughout the Alliance by customizing and facilitating monthly professional development seminars that moved teaching practice forward, coached teachers at several sites within the organization, and shared leadership with the administration to institutionalize an expectation of high quality and rigorous teaching and learning in mathematics that aligns with the key tenets of MAST. This is Michael's first year full-time with CMAST. His primary responsibility is coaching and supporting the residents of CMAST's
Los Angeles Math and Science Residency (LAMS).
