Katie Laskasky, Full-time Clinical Faculty
Katie Laskasky graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2005. After
completing her double major in management consulting and mathematics at
the University of Notre Dame, Katie joined Loyola Marymount
University’s PLACE (Partners for Los Angeles Catholic Education) Corps.
Through PLACE Katie taught high school mathematics full time in Boyle
Heights while concurrently pursuing her Master of Arts in Secondary
Education. She earned her California Preliminary Secondary Single
Subject Credential in Mathematics while graduating from LMU with a
perfect 4.0 grade point average. Following her time in PLACE Corps,
Katie joined the Center for Math and Science Teaching (CMAST) and fully
believes in its mission: increased student achievement through
increased student engagement. To that end she has worked with her
fellow LMU clinical faculty to develop innovative teaching strategies,
create effective assessments, and design rigorous mathematics
curriculum. After witnessing CMAST’s success in its very first year,
Katie is confident that the program will continue to improve in the
coming years. Katie currently teaches Pre-Calculus at College Ready
Academy High School 4 within the Alliance Charter network, and she
continues to work with other Alliance faculty to fully implement and
refine CMAST’s strategies, assessment, and curriculum. In the future,
Katie sees herself pursuing further studies in education at the
doctoral level.
