Jennifer Lee, Full-time Clinical Faculty
The Walt Disney Company was the first business to see Jennifer's
analytical, team building, and leadership skills, hiring her as a
Financial Analyst immediately after she received her Bachelor's of Arts
Degree in Economics from Barnard College of Columbia University. Her
love of students and education soon found her in the business of
education, performing in a variety of capacities ranging from tutoring,
counseling, and curriculum development to financial planning and
creating administrative reports. She has extensive experience
designing math SAT I and II preparatory curriculum, supporting students
one-on-one in learning this curriculum, and facilitating a large group
of students in preparing for these exams. Working with groups of
students, she realized her desire to teach math in the classroom. She
began teaching full time at Animo Leadership Charter High School in
Inglewood, California, while earning her Master's of Arts in Education
and Secondary Credential in Mathematics from Loyola Marymount
University. She has seven years of teaching experience, to include
developing curriculum in all courses from sixth grade through
Pre-Calculus as well as implementing curriculum that aligns each
subject matter to the state standards. Jennifer also focused on
creating opportunities for cross-curricular lessons and involving the
community in embracing mathematics. Now a full time clinical faculty
member at LMU in the Math and Science Teaching (MAST) program, Jennifer
continues to teach geometry at the high school in the morning, and then
uses her expertise in geometry and teacher leadership to actively
contribute to the success of the MAST program within the urban areas of
Los Angeles where she shares her expertise with teachers and
administrators in how to engage and support at-risk students in
mathematics so that they will experience measurable success in their
classes, based on the California standardized tests.
