Thank you for your interest in Loyola Marymount University’s PLACE Corps. LMU is a medium-sized Jesuit university located on a bluff over looking Marina Del Rey and the Pacific Ocean to the west and the City of Los Angeles to the north with a view of the local mountains in the background.
The PLACE Corps is a University program offered through the School of Education. The program, which involves a two-year commitment, includes elements of the PEACE Corps, Teach for America, and the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, all mixed together at LMU. It provides service to Catholic school children in the Los Angeles Archdiocese. As a teacher in the PLACE Corps, you would have an opportunity to really “give something back” while earning your masters and preliminary credential. This is made possible, in part, due to a generous grant from the University. PLACE Corps teachers form a support system for and with one another, living together in community, sharing their faith, and forming lifelong friendships.
