WHERE DO YOU WORK AND WHAT IS YOUR TITLE?

I currently work at Da Vinci schools as a school psychologist and Da Vinci Schools 504 Coordinator.

WHAT WOULD YOU CONSIDER TO BE YOUR AREA OF EXPERTISE AT THIS POINT IN YOUR LIFE?

At this point, my area of expertise and passion is working with students who are accessing ERICS (Educationally Related Intensive Counseling Services). The need to have an ERICS psychologist within the charter arose, and it is now an area of passion for me. Whether it’s assessing the students, meeting and collaborating with all parties, and then working with student for placement/coping strategies, etc. is something that I have grown to love.

HOW HAS YOUR WORK MADE AN IMPACT ON THE LIVES OF OTHERS?

Since I have been fortunate to embed counseling practice in my role, I feel that the most impact I have made is teaching students how to be fierce in their journey through life. Using solution focused based counseling has taught students how to identify and get to their desired goal – ultimately, I don’t feel like I do any of the work – in students’ lives, they do it all.

HOW HAS YOUR LMU EDUCATION CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR SUCCESS?

I am a true believer that what I do, day in and day out is in service of others. My LMU education taught me best practice, and theory that is essential in operating within a litigious field. I am grateful for the classwork that was tied to field practice, and our highly scaffolded internship year. While it is true that as a psych no two days are every the same (or often go as planned), the education that I have received while at LMU has made me prepared and confident in my skills.
