To be eligible for LMU's School Psychology program, you must hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology or a closely related field. If your undergraduate degree is not Psychology, you can still apply if you have completed a minimum of 18 undergraduate semester hours (6 classes) in Psychology prior to entering the program in Summer Session II. Note that the prerequisite classes must be completed before entering the program and registering for Summer II classes; you can apply prior to completing the classes if you intend to finish them before you enter the program.
The required classes must be completed at an accredited community college, college, or university. The 18 units must include the following courses:
- Introduction to Psychology
- Cognition/Learning Theories
- Human Development/Developmental Psychology
- Physiological/Neurological Psychology
- Statistics or Experimental Psychology
- One course in either Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, or Personality Theory
To determine whether or not a course that you have taken will count, please contact the School Psychology Academic Advisor, Ms. Danielle West at Danielle.West@lmu.edu.
Applicants are expected to have a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA. Applicants must also take the GRE and request that scores be sent to LMU. The average GRE scores for past cohorts were Qualitative: 155, Verbal: 153, Writing: 4.0.
